says: Dr. C. E. Stone, President of
the Aati-Debris Association, received
a telegram last evening from San
Franciscy,to the effect that the taking of testimony had been postponed
in the suit of the Unired States vs. the
North Bloomfield and other bydraulic
mining compunies.Good apples are“bringing from $2.to
$2.50 a box in San Francisco, and
some have been imported irom Auatralia to supply the demand. It is
only two years or so since Nevads
county was shipping apples to Australia, and when her Horticultural Com
missioners go after the codlin moth fi
a business-like way instead of trifling;

Four fine cows owned by Jas, McManus, son-in-law of Frank Torpie,
were swept over the falls in Deer creek
yesterday and killed. Before the rain
the animals crossed the stream at the
ford and finding good grass remained
until yesterday, when they unde, took
to recross below the ford. The swift:
current of the swollen stream carried
them over the falls and they were
. dashed to death on the rocks below.

says that the 1500x600 feet of s urface
ground hitherto called the Iowa will
hereafter be known as the Gold. The
authority for this change of name is
found at the bottom of the notice in the
shape of the following. names: Chas.
