Not Like Cosar’s Wife.
Among the various judges who
presided over the races at Glenbrook Park last week, only two of
them were generally subjected (o
adverse criticism for intentional
unfairness. One of these two is
especially bitterly censared by
horse owners and others, it being
openly charged that he was financially interested in some of the
races that he helped to pass upon.
The Directors should look to it
next year that only men above
suspicion occupy the judges’
stand. One or two of the other
kind will create a large amount of

Resolutions of Respect.
The Superior Court of Butte
county on Monday morning adoptéd a series of resolutions in memory of the late T. B. Reardan, and
then adjourned out of respect to
him. Judge Freer, supplemented
the resolutions with a short talk,
in which he regretted his inability to be present at the funeral of
his late partner in the profession,
and spoke with much feeling of
the good qualities possessed by
Judge Reardan a8 & gentleman
and as a lawyer. He «made the
remarkable statement’ that during the five years of his copartnership with Judge Reardan in the
practice of law, he had never heard
him make an unkind or discourteous remark concerning a brother
lawyer or any one else.

The Best Fleur.
One of the. all absorbing and
important question that are continually arising to the consumer,
is the question, Are the results
of New Process All Roller Milling
in the manufacture of flour # suc-'
cess? And what is there about it
that we have been taxed such
enormous ‘prices as we have paid
in the last year for our flour? Or
is it the ‘‘system’’ we have paid
for? Is the bread we now use on
our tables better bread than we
used to have? And ifso, in what
respect? Every house keeper and
bread maker will sum the whole
question up in one_word by saying, it is whiter. But at the same
time they all complain and say
they know, but don’t see the reason why, their bread dries out 80
much quicker than it use to. That
it seems to them they never have
any fresh bread any more to use
ontheir tables. And that cake
made of the new flour is almost
too dry to eat after it id one dayy
old. These are very graye and
serious considerations and affect
all mankind. And from nearly
avery hamlet and housekeeper we
hear the anxious enquiry : here
cin we get some of the good old
Stone Flour, which we used to
have? Do tell me and I will have
some of it at any price, for we are
tired, sick and disgusted with dry
bread, or being put to the trouble
of baking once or twice a day, in
order to keep our table supplied
with bread that is at all palatable.
