A recent Supreme Court opinion, in-thecase—of—Riley ve.-Simpaon. & Gray, deals with the responsibility of owners of buildings, in front of which awnings are erected. The plaintiff, walking under an awning owned by the defendants, was caught as it: fell. The plaintiff was awarded $5000 dam4ges for injuries caused by the fall of the awning, and the Supreme Court affirms the judgment, holding that the owners Were guilty of negligence in not maintaining their awning so that it should not be dangerous to pedesttrians.
