The new steam hoisting and pumping works of the Telegraph mine started up yesterday. The pumps at the’ Banner mine are again successfully handling the water, which has lately been coming in very strong from the south drift on the 500/ foot level. thee [Yesterday's Tidings . { The Omaha and Lone Jack Consolidated mine, Geo. Mainhart superintendent, is yielding more profitably and lookicg better than at any time since the Property was reopened. In levels 12 and 13 south there is a two-foot ledge of ore yielding $22 per ton, and a sixteen-inch ledge in the Omaha shaft. Sinking is in progress in both the Omaha and Lone Jack shafts. It will not be long before the payment of dividends will be resumed, provided the developments . do not fall below expectations warratjted by all indications. i This company has 24,000 shares of capital stock, which has at all times been held firmly at not below $20 per share. Hydrautic Mining. Says the San Francisco Hotel Gazette: The question of hy raulic mining is still being actively agitated in this §tate. The withdrawal of the large amount of money which was formery put into circulation’ by our system of gaydraulic mining, has created a depression not only in the mining counties, but to’some extent in this city also. It is contended by many that this lass of mining can be so conducted as to work no injury to the.farmer or to the riversand harbors. We shall be glad to , 8ee such legislation as shall allow the hydraulic.gold-segkers to work their claims and bring back the prosperity to those counties which have suffered by the laws now in force in the matter. ——+~00— Grass Valley’s Firemen Coming.
