Firat—Give your name and residence
to one of the clerks of election, who will
give you a ballot if your name is on the
registry list,
Second—Upon receiving the ballot retire alone to one of the booths and prepare y ur ballot by marking an X at the
right of the name for each person for
whom you wish to vote.
Third—lIf you are to vote for two‘ or
more persons for the same office make a
eross mark X at the right of as many
mames as.there are candidates to be elected
to each office.
Fourth—In case a question is submitted to vote, make an X at the right of
the proposition for which you desire to
vote.
Fifth—Do not mark your ballot in any
other way. :
Sixth—If you spoil a ballot return it
to the clerks of election and receive another: but don’t waste time in spoiling
ballot, or you may get left.

Whenever the Legislature shall propose
any amendment or amendments to the
Constitution of this State, which amendment or amendments shall have been
passed in.the manner and form required
by section one of article eighteen of the
Constitution, and no other mode is provided by law for the submission of such
amendment or amendments to the people
for their approval, it shall be the duty of
the Governor to advertise such proposed
amendment or amendments in at least
four newspapers of general circulation in
this State, for three months next prece
ing the next general election : One of sait
newspapers must be published at the city
of Sacramento, and two at the city of
San Francisco; and in issuing his proclamation for an election at which any
amendment or amendments to the Constitution are to be voted upon, he shall include such amendment or amendments
therein, and he shall designate them b’
numbers, in the order in which they have
