Why He Walked From Grass Valley to
_ Smartaville,
}.
A young and handsome Smartsville man,
who until recently taught school not many
miles from Marysville, says the Appeal, recently attending the Teachers’ Institute at
Truckee. Being quite fascinating hé made
the acquaintance of several of the lady
teachers and spent considerable money on
boat, buggy rides and suppers for the fair
acquaintances,
At the conclusion of the Institute he went
to his room and counted over his money and
his lower jaw fell several notches when he
discevered that he had only just enough
meney to pay his fare to GrassValley.
Whoen he arrived there without money or
credit he made up his mind to borrow a few
dollars from his friend, the stage driver, but
he had already left on the down trip and he
was not so well acquainted with the other
