John Sanders and John Williams,
Truckeéites, were brought tothe countyHiospital Saturday.
Sanders isa stationery engineer and
and on Thursday night had one of his
arms taken off atthe elbow by being
run over by a locomotive.
Williams presents a shocking spectacle. A lamp exploded in the bedroom at his boarding place and while

fearfully burned about the head and
hands, His money, together with the
house, was destroyed, and he escaped

candidates bubble over with generosity and generous promises. Drinks

that are to come, would furnish the

Reugh and Resay Beviving.
The famous old town of Rough and
Ready is in a fair way to regain its
quondam prosperity. For many years
it has.been ‘in the dumps,” but now
it is ,being brought to the front
again by virtue of a revival of its
many and wonderful resources. It
now has in full operation two stores, a
blackemith shop and a shoeshop. It
also expects to shortly have a meat
market and a telegraph office.
Overland Monthly fer October.
In the number for this month Horace Davis has a paper on ‘Collegiate
Education for Women.” John 8S. Hittell describes the ‘‘Great Archipelago.”” Charles H. Stockton contributes
@ paper on ‘‘The Reconstruction ef the
United States Navy.’’ The other articles are seasonable. This periodical is
published at 420 Montgomery street,
San Francisce.
