In a Bad Fix.
J. D. Dunphey, of Camptonville, won the
bear which took such a conspicuous part in
the late Native Sons’ celebration in raffle,
and has generously dinated bruin te Hydraulic Parlor, at Nevada City, with the injunction to pass him around for similar future disalpys.
The bear has not arrived, but the collars
of some of the members of that Parlor have
wilted since they heard of the present.
They are ina terrible sweat to know what
te do with the monster. We recommend
that they send the brute down te the Midwinter Fair.

Hon. W. D. Tisdale left here by private
conveyance Sunday for a trip up the Ridge.
He went to San Juan and from there he will
go to Celumbia Hill, North Bloomfield and
other places up that way. He intends to
remain around here for two or three weeks,
this being the only vacation he has had in a
namber of years. Before he leaves here he
will undoubtedly become the owner of a
goed quartz mine,

J. B. Wilson, 371 Clay St., Sharpsburg,
Pa., says he will not be without Dr. King’s
New Discovery for Consumptiun, Coughs
and Colds, that it cured his wife who was
threatened with Pneumonia after an attack
of ‘‘La Grippe,” when various other’ remedies and several physicians had done her no
good. Robert Barber, of Coeksport, Pa.,claims Dr. King’s New Discovery has done
him more good than anything he ever used
for Lung Trouble. Nothing like it. Try
it. Free Trial Bottles at Carr Bros. Drug

All Minors Should Poel Deeply Gratefal to
“Gov. A. A Markham.
Senator Tirey L, Ford writes a communication to the Scientific Press in relation
to the work of the Minérs’ Convention,' and
in closing uses the following language which
should be deeply impressed upon the héarts
and minds of the miners-of California +——
“T should feel that I was negligent in the
performance.of my duty as a miner did I
not take this occasion to say, in behalf of . =
the miners of California, that to Geverner
is due the change ef sentiment that has
swept over the State with reference to the
mining industry. He was our friend when
we needed a friend, a fact the miners of
California will never forget.”
