On the first page of this eyening’s TranxSCRIPT appears an illustration showing a Jarge number of the delegates to the State Miners Convention held in San Francisco last week. The representation are grouped upon the steps of the U. 8. Mint building. The -picture is a reproduction of the one . that appeared in the San’ Francisco Exami\ wer a few days ago, and-to that great and enterprising daily we are indebted for the the privilege of printing it today. Many of the faces will be readily recognized. There isa little to much droop to the mustache of Deputy Internal Revenue Collector Cole, giving \him a striking resem—blance to James G. Fair. President Tregidgo and Secretary, Englebright of the Nevada County Association look life-like enovgh to speak, and it does not reqiire a great stretch of imagination te conclude that each of them is inviting the whole crowd to step -around the corner and liquidate as soon as the photegrapher is through with them. Judge Walling, A. Isoard, Wm. Floyd, R. C, Walrath, Maj. McBride, Assemblyman Thomas, A. L. Begbie and a. dozen other Nevada countyans will be picked out at first-glance, Ex-—Senatér Preston anil Al Burrows both .declare that they were not on the scene, but they will find it difficult to convince their friends that they are not joking.. Their exact protetypes are-to be-seen— the Senator’s standing on the extreme left of the-front—rew, and the Grass Valiey attorney's in the very center of the frout row with his gold-rimmed eye-glasses grace. fulley poised between his left thumb and forefinger, ——.-—--— = See In the Cave of the Winds, Niagara Falls, Saturday morning, clad in water-proof garments, Miss Minnie Weller of Alleghany City, Penn., was married to Walter 8. From the Union we learn that the fafmous Allison Ranch mine has been sold by A. E. Davis to James D. Hague, the well-known mining man and capitalist. soi he actual spot cash paid is said to be Tt is also asserted that within the past few days more than half a dozen deeds conveying mining property on Massachusetts Hill to Mr. Hague have been duly acknowledged. If all reports be true, Mr. Hague now owns most all the valuable mining property on Massachusetts Hill frem the Ford and Reilly claim down to the North Star mine, as well as the Allison Ranch. Work ceased on the Allison Ranch about seventeen years ago, when the mine had attained a vertical depth of about 400 feet or in the neighborhood of 800 feet on the incline. A ‘horse’ wasencountered and work shortly afterward ceased. * Millions and immense dividends paid. According to Bean’s Directory, in October, 1855, a lot of rock, about eighteen tons, extracted from the mine, was crushed at the Gold Hill mill and Yielded about $6,000; and in December of the same year, sixtytwo tens produced $23,000. From 1855 up to 1865 the mine proved wonderfully rich, durmg which time large sums were expended in erecting machinery, sinking shafts, etc., the owners, meanwhile, receiving large dividends. The gross yield of the Allison Ranch from its opening up to the close of 1866,. as the Looks of the company demonstrate, was between $2,300,000 and $2,400,000. Over a million dollars was extracted after that date. The Allison Ranch employed abeut 250 men at one time. > ee No orHek sarsaparilla has the merit to hold the confidence of entire cémmunities year after year, as has Hood's” Sarsaparilla, It possesses curative power peculiar to itself, Hoop's Priis-are purely vegetable, care= fully prepared from the best ingredient. 25e. —+ +e. ~ Going ‘Out of Business.
