THURSDAY, OCTOBER. 23, 1890
———SE—
Good Republican Meetings.
“The Republican county candidates
day night, the whole. population turning out to welcome them. John L.
Cook presided and there was much
enthusiasm.
At Washington Tuesday night there
was another fine turn-out. The chairman was W. L, Williamson and the
secretary J. B. Lithgo. In addition to
the able presentation of the -campiign’s issues by T:€. Hocking, the
Assembly nominee, and the remarks
of other candidates, Editor Watson of
the Herald made a speech which was
of course one of the best of the campaign. Mr. Watson is a fluent, forcible and logical talker, and he'presents his ideas in concise and telling
form. After the Washington meeting there was a dance that was enjoyed greatily by all the participants.
Finds Faver with Voters.
TheRepublican candidate for County
Recorder is winning golden opifiions
from the people as he progf@sses on
his pilgrimage through the different
portions of the county. Mr. Sleep is
one of the rising young men :of the
county. He is full of energy, and has
allthe qualifications necessary to fill
the office in a manner satisfactory . .
to everybody as'well asin the interest . .
ofthe public. He is a most genial
man, winning friends among old and
young and permanently retaining
them. All who know Mr. Sleep
have only the best kind of words for
him.
Capabie and Popular.
One of the most experienced and
progressive educators in the State is
W. J. Rogers, the Republican nominee .
for County School Superintendent.
Wherever he has -taught he has been
held in the highest favor personally
and professionally by pupils and parents. He knows all about the management of schools, and he has the
executive ability to apply his knowledge to practical use. Mr. Rogers
will keep the public schools of the
county at the high standard they have .
have held for many years past.
a
AGreat “spud” Country,
One of the “attractions of BR. D.
Skidmore’s saloon at North Bloomfield is a collection of gigantic potatoes
representing the various national political parties. They are all regular. _
premium tubers, but thé oné representing the Republican is by far the
largest and comeliest.of the lot. They
were raised on a ranch near North]:
Bloomfield. That part of the county
is said to have hetter climate and
soil for ‘‘spuds’’ than any other locality.
A Goed Place te step.
The Zink House onthe San Juan
road five miles from this city isa popular stopping place with the traveling
public. The nicest of refreshments
can be obtained there at any time,
and freighters find it a pleasant place
to “put up’ at. Mr. and Mrs. Zink
give their patrons the best of attention
and accomomdations.
Crovr frequently finds a household
unprepared for its visit, while the
rapidity with which it develops calls
for instant treatment. For this
dangerous disease Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral is an admirable remedy. It
saves many livesevery year. Keep
it in the house. a :
