for Macadamizing Certain
Streets and Constructing Certain Gutters in
Nevada City.

Section 1. It is hereby established and
declared necessary for the public convenience and welfare, that certain portions of
streets hereinafter designated (and which
have been heretofore planked) shall be macadamized, and certain gutters herein specified shall be constructed.and maintained.
Section 2. The streets and parts thereof, herein referred to, are described as follows :
Broad street, from the point where it is
intersected by York street, to the point
where it is intersected by the alley east of
the National Exchauge Hotel.
Pine street from the north line of Spring
street to the north line of Commercial
street.Commercial Street from the point where
it intersects Pine street to the point where
it intersects Main street.
Main street, from the point where it
intersects Commercial street to the Iron
Bridge which crosses Deer Creek.

The said Macadam shall be 15 inches
deep in the center of the street, and 10
inches deep on the sides, with a uniform
slope or grade from centerto sides.
Sec. 4. Gutters shall be made and constructed on both sides of each street,
or section of street, whenever the same
shall be macadamized. :
The gutters shall be made of rock or
cement, at the option of the owner of the
adjacent lot.
The said gutters shall be made in accordance with the directions and to the
satisfaction of the Street Committee of
the Board of City Trustees.
Section 5, Allrock used in macadamizing the streets before mentioned shall
be small enough to pass through a ring
three inches in diameter, and all rock
within six inches of the strface shall be
small enough to passthrough a ring two
inches in yg and shail be laid to
the satisfaction of the standing Street
Committee of the Board.
Section 6. Any Section or portion of
any street, or part of street herein named
on which the planking 13 in_good ‘repair,
may be allowed to remaih in its present
condition, tintil by‘wear, it is deemed
necessary by the’ Street Committee, that
the same shall be replaced by macadamized road as provided in this érdinance.
Upon receiving oral notice from the
said committee, (or from the City Marshal at the request of said committee) the
owner. _.or occupant.. of .any=:—lot—-or
lots fronting on said street, or any part
thereof, shall replace the planking by the
macadamized road and gutters herein described, from the edge of the sidewalk to
the center of the street, fronting on said
lot or lots.
Any person or persons failing to comply with any provision of this ordinance
shall incur the penalty, liability and for-,
feiture provided for in the street ordinand the general laws relating to street
improvements for failure. to repair, construct, grade, pave or improve any street
oposite his premises, and upon his failure
