A Thief Surprised.
Last evening-a man was discovered hiding
in the rear ef Mrs, Robbins’ variety store,
Commercial. street. A.daighter of Mrs.
again and afterwards tried to reopen the
back door, butfuund it held fast. She then
notified Willian Durst, the baker, who
went into'the yard back of the store and
made a thorough search, but failed to find
any one, although there were evidences of

was doubtless a sneak thief, who was skulking about preparatory to robbing the place
later on: A charge.of shot would be a good
thing for some of tiese scoundrels.
