Supervisor Bradley Will Not be Bulldosed
«. A few days ago the Transcript
stated that there was going to be some .
wrangling over the infamous bills: of
the Anti-Debris Association ; that Mr.
Bradley, the new Supervisor of Yuba
county, who was elected last week,
would join the mining men on the}
Board and see that all outrageous bills .
were rejected. The following bills .

It will be seen that a large portion
of the money demanded in these bills
goes to the lawyers and the managers
ofthe Auti Debris Society.
These bills came up for considera
tion, before the Board of Supervisors
of ‘Yuba county, on Saturday last, and
the following interesting discussion
took place:
Qn motion of Arnold the. consideration of all anti-debris bills was passed
until the October term, the affirmative
votes of-Bradley, Arnold and Mal: ley,
Dam and Pine yoting against postponement. .
The motion to take up and allow all
hills except. those mentioned above, .
was lost, Bradley voting with Pine and .
Dam in the negative.
The following communication from
the Anti-Debris Association was then
read : Ney,
To the Hon. the Board of Supervisors
of Yuba County—Gentlemen: :
Whereas, The Anti-Debris Association.of the Sacramento Valley, through
-its Board. of Directors and officers, bave
at their own expense and ‘ogt ofthe
funds of the Association carried antidebris litigation to a succe-sful issue
go faras the law and injunc:ions are
concerned, and have expended large
sums inthe enforcement of the law,
and whereas the Boards of Supervisors
of the several complaining counties
have from time to time, paid from the
county funds, attorneys and other employes.
It is therefore unanimously Resolved
by the Board.of Directors of this Association, in session this day, that it is
of the greatest importance to the Valley interests that we should know
whether your Honorable body desire
to continue the policy. heretoiore pursued, or whether you wish all litigation should cease. An immediate
reply to this communication is very respectfully requested, as in our opinion’,
matters of very grave concern need
early attention, either from your Hon.
Body or from this Association. [Signed.J] C. E. Stone, President AntiDebris Assciation. B. F. Walton, Sec.
After some discussion, consideration
of the document was continued until
“next month, by the vote; of Bradley,
Arnold and Malaley, Pine and Dam
youting against prostponement.
Pine said that he considered the bills
just claims, and in consideration of
the fact that some of them had been
there since the first of the year, they .
should be allowed. He had not found
jtnecessary in order to protect ‘“‘the
little all,” which be had in this world,
to secure an office of public trust and
then request bonds for the performance
of hisduty. Instead, he gave bonds
and by his acts as an officie] he hoped
to be judged.
Dam thought that there was no occasion to delay the payment of the
bills, and that ig the interests of the
general welfare the communication .
should be replied to at onee.
Mr. Bradley said he did not proposé
to be gagged by the members of theBoard or by the Anti-Debris Association, and that he wasgoing to take
time to contider all business of the
_ Board ; that he was in favor of allowing all Anti-Debris bills which the
Board had directly contracted, and
_Athat for all claims made by the Association he would have to have an indemnifying bond.
Mr. Dam said that he did not propose to gag Mr> Bradley, and did not
think that any one else did. Mr.
Bradley was capable of judging for
himself, and ougbt to know bis duty.
He was not there to tell any member
of the Board what they should do. It
‘was what the constituency of each Supervisor desired that should be the
mieans of letting bim know hig duty,
and not the blatant utterings of irresponsible parties.
_ Mr, Bradley said that he did not
care tomake any flat-footed axpression in reference to the anti-debris
. tremities of Mr. Gladstone, or Lord Tenny. you, sir.
. would use all your influence to get the other
“Civilities of the Sarvice.””
A citizen of Bourbon proclivities strolled
into the postoffice this morning with both
hands in his pockets and a short pipe between his teeth, walked up and down the
corridors, looked over the building as if he
had just bought it, and remarked to a friend,
“Begorra we’ve a Dimmycrat for postmasther.” When he caught sight of two colored
letter carriers going out with their mail he
rushed excitedly to the postmaster’s private
office and demanded:

“Tall Aches from Little Toe Corns Grow.”’
Did you ever reflect that the corn is an index of refinement and enlightenment? You
may seek for it in vain in the miserable babitations of the native of Terra del Fuego or the.
bushman of Australia, but in the gilded

will find them by the score. Gaze upon the
generous feet of the king of the Cannibal
Islands, who never bad a corn. in’ his life—
unless it was appended to a roasted missionary—and then search. the embossed pedal exson, or Lily Langtry, an ycu will realize
that it is not the shriek of the locomutive or
