During the past few -weeks the TRAN~ script has received about a dozen —_ from as many different States asking for the, information herein contained, audsave letter writing is the reason: for = iD: ee areas of fertile lands, seeured by Governinent patent, can be _purchased at such reasonable figures that a few: bundred dollars is sufficient to pay for a analP farm. : Second—The standard fruits grown in this county are the finest of their varieties flavor and have a firmness of texture that gives them better shipping and keeping qualities than those grown at lower. alti ‘walls, and they find a ready market at re-)~ munerative prices. Third—The long summers permit of the rotation of crops, and the raising of two and even three different crops from the same land in a single season. Fourth—There is a ready market, for all farm products at good prices. Fifth—There are excellent means of trans: portation; the railway penetrating the central portion of the county. Sixth—There is an abundance of timber. Seventh—There is an inexhaustible supply of pure water, both for irrigating and domestic purposes. Eighth—The temperature is mild, both}* ia summer and winter, and is not subject to sudden changes. : Ninth—The climate will compare favorably with that of'any other section of the Pacific Coast, even with the most favored, “there being no malaria with-its resulting chills and fever, no violent winds, no fogs, uor floods. Tenth—The children reared in this climate and at this altitude above. the. sea. ugually acquire better physical constitutions, with more plumpness and firmness of imiuscular development as well as color and vitality of the blood than those reared in the __ valley or even coast counties. With this brief statement of facts, however, let it be understood that we do not slain for Nevada county that it is a paralec on carth, nor even the popular romance of sub-tropical gloriés. Nevada county lies a little northi of the central line of California; and contains a population of about 25,000. It extends from the summit of the Sierra Nevada mountains, on the east line of the State, westward a distance of seventy miles to the Sacramento Valley, It is from twelve to twenty miles wide, The altitude is from two to three thousand feet along its central portion and less than one thousand feet elevation.in-the western-or-valley region. The Mme of the Central Pacific Railroad crosses the eastert boundary, and traverses the southern portion of the county for many miles. It then enters Placer county, fellowing close to the southern boundary of Nevada county till near. its western. limit. The Nevada County Narrow Guage Railroad eonnects with the Central Pacific at Colfax and extends thence north to the central portaon of the county, passing through Chicago Park, Grass Valley, and terminating at Nevada City—twenty-two miles from the Central Pacific Overland Railroad. The Sentral’ portions contain most of the rich geld mines, ineluding quartz, hydraulic and placer mines together with the upper portion ef the Morticultural belt, while the western or foothill region consists exclusively of agricultural and grazing lands. The hortieultural and agricultural section of the county comprises about 250,000 acres of land, a large per centage ef which is adapted to cultivation. The topography of the county is such as to give variety to the products. We grow successfully in Nevada veunty: Oranges, lemons, citrons,’ figs, olives, Bartlett pears, apples, peaches, nec~ tarineés, apricots, plums, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, gooseberries, Nazel nuts, black walnuts, chestnuts, almonds, and every kind of vegetable grown. Nevada City is the county seat of Nevada ceanty. There are five daily, one tri weekly and three weekly newspapers published in the county. The fcllowing named towns are in Nevada county: Nevada City, Grass Valley, Truckee, Boca, Rough and Ready, Spenceville, Indian Springs, North San Juan, Birchyille, Sweetland, Cherokee, French Corral, Columbia Hill, Lake City, Malakoff, Berth Bloomfield, Derbee, Moore’s Flat, Orleans Flat, Graniteville, Ormonde, Washimgton, Alpha, Omega, Bear Valley, You Bet, Quaker Hill, Hunt’s Mill, Ked Dog, Little York, Chicago Park, Buena Vista, Blue Tent, Mooney Flat, Boston Ravine, Allison Ranch, Forest Springs, Patterson, Maybert. ween Notice of Proving Will.
