Third—The long summers permit of they” rotation of crops,/and the raising of two and even three different crops from the same land in a single season. Fourth—There is a ready market for all farm products at good prices. Fifth—There are excellent means of trans: portation, the railway penetrating the central portion of the county. : Sixth—There is an abundance of timber. Seventh—There is an inexhaustible supply-of pure-water, both for irrigating and domestic purposes. ~ tighth—The temperature is mild, both in summer and winter, and is not subject to sudden changes. Ninth—The climate will cempare favorably with that of any other section of the . Pacific Coast, even with the most favored, there being no malaria with its resulting chills and fever, no violeut winds, no fogs, uor floods. . Bee Nevada County Narrow Guage Railroad connects with the Central Pacific at Colfax amd extends thence north to the central portion of the county, passing through Chicago Park, Grass Valley, and terminating at Nevada City—twenty-two tiles from the Gentral Pacific Overland Railroad. The central portions contain most of the rich gold mines, ineluding quartz, hydraulic and placer mines together with*the upper portion of the Horticultural belt, while the western or foothill region consists exclusively of agricultural and grazing lands.
