The Men We Know.
—
The men we know are the men we
trust, if we are wise, says an exchange.
If we are not wise we will trust every.
stranger and frequently be ‘taken in’’ by
charlatans, mounte-banks, bunco steerers
.and ‘‘green goods” men. How important
it is, therefore, for a business man (and
who is not more or less a business man)
to be well and favorably known. If his
name or card never appears in the local
papers, he will certainly not be well
known, even if he is favorably known by
afew. ut if his name is blazed abroad
by a local paper, even stravgers _—
will come to think that he is an individual of some importance, and hence a
man to be trusted. Consequently a busi_ ness man who is so perverse and absurd
as to obstinately refuse to patronize his
local paper, is not only standing in his
own light, but in the light of, science, of
art, of literature, and of morality.

Upon us, as it sometime is, in a most unexpected manner by disease, we. appreciate the fact that it is a most insidious
foe, and that not only is it necessary to
combat it by the most potent wedicinal
agencies, but to prevent its manifestation atall by counteracting the causes
that produce it. Thus, exposure in wet
weather, the enforced wearing of damp
clothes during a storm, a thorough
draught, unaccustomed diet aud water,
hodily or mental overwork, are breeders
of disease, but Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters will prevent their iuducing it. This
