The Coroner’s Inquest —Mrs. Galavotti Bears Up Bravely.
Sheriff Dunster and ex-City Marshal
Neagle reached home at two o'clock this
morning after sixteen hours’ hunt for the
murderer of Superintendent Galavotti.
From here they went direct to the scene
of the killing on the South Yuba grade
six and half miles above this city and
found tracks of number eight or nine
boots leading from the point on the hill
where the shodter stood down’ to the
road.
Here they were met by parties who
had come down from North Bloomfield
and who gave them information that led
them to hasten to that town. Upon arriving there they were notified that Geo.
Clarke, a gambler who has maile Bloomdistance ahead of him. As he approached they dodged into the shadows at the
side of the road, and he fully-expected to
be stood up. They did not molest him,
however. That is the mght that Clarke
was abroad. ees
Just after the Transcript had gone to

received here from the Derbec Mining

that the company will pay $1,000 for the
apprehension of the murderer or murderers of Superintendent Galavotti.

and upon quitting that occupation went
to Carson, Nevada, where for four: years
he kept books for a mining company.
Later he was similarly employed by
