Timm of this city today began suit inthe Superior Court to obtain a divorce from Frederick W. Timm, on the ground of extreme cruelty. The funeral of the late Levi M. Carr takes place from the family residence on West Main street, Grass. Valley, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, and will be conducted under the auspices of the Chosen Friends. A man named Ridley was brought over . : from Truckee yesterday morning by Dr. “McCurdy and admitted to the County Hospital. Ridley, was , employed a. Schaffer’s sawmill and Tuesday he fell from a trestle, striking on his head against a rock. He was almost scalped, the skull being exposed for several inches. — LOOKED LIKE CLARK. He Visited Grass Valley But Did Not Linger There. : Says last evening’s Grass Valley Tidings: At2 o'clock this morning a travel stained man entered Uphoff’s saloon iu this city. Officer Miller was present auu noted that the man’s features strongl y resembled those attributed to Clark, even to. the small side-wiskers. The strange: was smaller than Clark is described to be, however. He said that he was from Sierra City and was traveling by night because ‘it was cooler,” and that he was.eu route to Sacramento. Subsequently Miller met night-watch men Keathley and Dennen and told of hi meeting with the stranger, describing him.. After.a brief. talk, it was.decideu to find-and arrest the man, the officer: concluding that the published description of Clark might be inaccurate in regard to his height and weight and that the ‘stranger might be the man wanted.
