Injured student — Amanda Gail Beck, a fourth grade student at Scottén School in
Grass Valley, was treated and released from Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital after
she was struck by a vehicle at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the California Highway
~~, Patrol. The.driver_of the vehicle, Mark Alan Sandberg, 42, of Grass Valley, was west-_
. bound on Gilmore Way when Beck, 9, ran from behind a parked vehicle and into the.
path of Sandberg’s vehicle, the report stated.

for Dora Adrian Allen, 74, who
died Tuesday at a Grass Valley
medical facility. She made her
home in Penn Valley.
A California native, she was
born Oct. 22, 1913 to James and
Lida Barry.
-Mrs. Allen is. survived by a
son, William of Penn Valley;
two daughters, Beryl Jackson
of Penn Valley, Arleen Palacios
of San Francisco; a_ brother,
James Barry of Placerville;
sister, Ann Eric of Ripon; seven
grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. .
Arrangements are under the
direction of Hooper & Weaver,
Grass Valley.

Cunningham, 78, died Sunday at
a Mountain View Hospital.
A memorial service will be at
4 p.m. Thursday at Chapel of
.the Hills, 1331 Lincoln’ Way,
Auburn, officiated by clergy of
St. Joseph's Catholic Church,
Auburn. Inurnment will be in
New Auburn District Cemetery.
Mrs. Cunningham.was born
Sept. 12, 1909 in Philadelphia,
Penn., and.had made her home
in the Bay area for many years
before coming to Auburn 2%
years ago.
She was employed by Sunset
Magazine. for 20 vears until
retiring. :
Her hobbies included knitting
afghans, reading and bridge.
Mrs. Cunningham is survived
by her husband of 57 years,
Leonard, Sr.; sons, Leonard Jr.
of San Diego, Richard of Menlo
Park; a daughter, Sara Carter
of-Grass Valley: sister, Helen
Riley of New Jersey and five
grandchildren.
The family prefers contributions to a charity of the donor’s
choice which may be depositied
with the mortuary staff,
