Big-rig truck
gets hung up
on fire hydrant
A large big-rig truck slowed
traffic for two hours Wednesday
‘after getting stuck on an East
Main Street fire hydrant.
The truck had been pulling
into a loading zone in front of
122 E. Main St. when the incident occurred at about 11:45
a.m. z
However, because of heavy
traffic, the truck was unable to
park properly and maneuvered
itself over a hydrant. The
driver was unable to move forward or backward.
For two hours, Grass Valley
police officers directed traffic
around the vehicle and tried
unsuccessfully to move it.
They considered dismantling
the hydrant, but it still would
have been too tall to allow the
truck to move without serious
damage to the vehicle. :
A towing firm was called to
remove the truck, but not before the driver had damaged
