Mr. Benson worked on major hydro projects across the United States. He was also a private pilot and enjoyed gold mining. He owned a&td operated Golden Eagle Inn in Alleghany between 1977 and 1985. Mr. Benson is survived by his wife, Mozelle; a son, George, Jr. of Grass Valley; daughter, Laura Sutton, Grass Valley; sister, Madonna Durfey of Rescue; and four grandchildren.Memorial services are to be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lassila’s Sierra Chapel, 34 W.
