George Benson
George Richard: Benson, 68, a
_ resident of Grass Valley for the
past year, died at his home on
Monday.
A native of Parkston, S.D.; he
was born Jan. 22, 1919, to Milton
and Laura Benson.
He was a member of Masonic
Lodge No. 103, F&AM_ in
Oroville; and Operating
Engineers Local No. 3.
Mr. Benson worked on major
hydro projects across the United States. He was also a private
pilot and enjoyed gold mining.
He owned a&td operated Golden
Eagle Inn in Alleghany between
1977 and 1985.
Mr. Benson is survived by his
wife, Mozelle; a son, George,
Jr. of Grass Valley; daughter,
Laura Sutton, Grass Valley;
sister, Madonna Durfey of
Rescue; and four grandchildren.Memorial services are to be

Eighty-year-old Bessie Mae
Tellam died Thursday at a
Grass Valley medical facility.
She was resident of Grass
Valley. Arrangements are pending at Hooper & Weaver Mortuary, Grass Valley.
Vernon Richards
Services for Wernon D.
Richards are scheduled for 10
a.m. Monday at Chapel of the
Hills, 1331 Lincoln Way,
Auburn. Burial will follow in the
New Auburn District Cemetery.
Mr. Richards, a resident of
Lake of the Pines for the past
nine years, died Tuesday at a
San Francisco medical facility.
He was 77.
He was a native of Page,
N.D., born April 1910. Prior to
moving to Nevada County, he
had been a long-time resident of
Lafayette. He was a Chevrolet
; dealer in Oakland from 1962 to
1973.
