Boyle © Leo Edward Boyle, a Nevada County resident since 1932, died Sunday in a local medical facility. He was 80 and a resident of Cesar Ridge. Son of the late Edward and Bridget (Monahan) Boyle, Mr. Boyle was born April 23, 1909, in Butte, Mont., where he received his early education. At age 14 he began working in Butte area mines. After moving to Nevada County, he worked in area gold mines until the 1950s when he went into the construction industry in Califomia and Alaska. He retired in 1967. Mr. Boyle was a member of Labor Union Local 185 and of the Catholic Church. His wife Mable died in 1988. $ Survivors include a son, Leo of Pataskala, Ohio; stepsons Grant Hafelfinger of Manteca, Dale Hafelfinger of Grass Walley and Larry Hafelfinger of Sacramento; stepdaughter Bonnie Youngman of Grass Valley; 11 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. According to preliminary reports, one sheriff's unit began pursuing the pickup southbound on Highway 49 from Alta Sierra Drive after it failed to heed a request to pull over. The fleeing pickup went west on Lime Kiln Road where it became involved in a collision with the pursuing patrol car. A closely following second patrol car then hit the first sheriffs unit, but kept up the pursuit The report said the pickup then backed into the front of the second unit, causing more damage.
