EIcur California Mining Journal, July, 1937 . With the Bay Cities Mining Equipment Dealers San Franciscans to Open Mine — H. A. Moss, secretary-manager of the Gaston Gold Mines, Ltd., San Francisco, states the mine is to be examined as soon as roads are open to the property. L. M. Dickson is president and George St. John is vice president. The mine is northeast of Washington, Nevada Co., Calif, San Francisco Atternmey Announces Mine Opening—C. S. Morbio, attorney for Mrs. Annie Bessler of Downieville, Calif., owner of the Bessler Mine, which has been shut down since 1931, has announced that it will be put into operation this season. The property lies directly on the Alleghany-Downieville contact. The old shaft is down 3,000 ft. San Franciscan Developing Nevada Placer. Chas. N. Miller, well known San Francisco mining man, is now developing a large placer deposit in Nevada. He is also interested in the Malone mine, at Yosemite Oaks, Mariposa Co., with J. E. Gaskill of Midpines, Calif. They heave sunk the first 70 ft. on a good 4-ft. vein and_ installed power for deeper development, Denver Equipment to Open S. F. Branch. Ralph B. Utt, representative for the Denver Equipment Co., announces that its company is opening a San Francisco branch in the Hobart Bldg. Mr. Utt will spend his time in the northern fields with his headquarters in charge of an assistant. Mitchell Diamond Drill Co.—have moved their San Francisco headquarters from 175 Ist St., to 855 Bryant St. TUOLUMNE COUNTY The Black Oak Mining Co. is suing Charles H. Segerstrom, as receiver of the Sierra Railway, for $90,000 damages. The Black Oak charges that the fire which destroyed its buildings last August, was started by a Sierra railway train, Peters and associates are operating a fivestamp mill on their Nijirich or Good Luck mine. The recovery has been very satisfactory. Mr. Skoff of San Francisco spent several weeks in the Columbia District, completing assessment work on his mine, which adjoins the Slanec property. The A. E. Kent Dredger, formerly the Palomar Dredger, one of the largest mining enterprises in the Mother Lode, shifted its operations from near Chinese station to the Montezuma mud flats zbove Jacksonville. The shift was made in the record-breaking time of one week, by the Geo. Grifall Trucking Co. At the present time 20 men are employed, and a graveyard shift was put to work on the dredger at Jacksonville. Tke operation is owned by Kent, an official of the Morpak Packing Co. Sidney Wood, manager of the Gold Diggers’ Syndicate mine, near Jamestown, wes called to New York recently on business. Four men are employed cleaning out the tunnel. Plans call for a 50-ton capacity mill and active mining to start as soon as these men are through this work. TUOLUMNE COUNTY The Star King mine, near Tuolumne City, has suspended operation. Oneida Mines, Inc., of New York, have completed road work to the Bell mine and also small buildings. The old headframe has been removed preparatory to a new installation. The company is now completing a mill installation at the Angels mine and installing an additional 420 cu. ft. compressor. Here they are engaged in sinking an incline shaft on Dead Horse lode to be connected with deeper development of the Angels. H. Victor Burgard, engineer, is in charge.
