Our first real search for bottles took us here, where at
an old dump we found our first bottle. Because the bottle
looked odd -the top of it seemed to be glued on --we took
it to a friend of ours whois a bottle collector. He informed
us that this was a very good "Dr. Hostetters Bitters" bottle.
We became more and more interested in this hobby, in
which the whole family can take an active part. Now, at
every opportunity, we try to find new places to dig for bottles or other objects of interest. Since our first discovery,
we have found bottles in many locations in Northern California.
Our search for bottles in this historical settlement proved successful when we found several patent medicine bottles
in our diggings at the dump of an old camp site. The best
of these was a purple bottle which had a long, bulging neck
and the inscription, 'Newbros Herpicide Kills the Dandruff
Germ".
