Page Six rere ete mrt ter “ ry CARROTS xs GOLDEN HALF LONG CHANTENAY—The tops are medium sized With small neck. The mature roots are thick, 514 to 6 inches in length, uniformly half long or stump rooted but tapering slightly; smooth, deep orange-red in ~ color. The flesh is very crisp and tender. Medium early. Packet, 5c: oz., 15¢: %4 Ib. 45c; Ib., $1.10. NANTES CORELESS—The roots are cylindrical, smooth and of a bright orange color. The flesh is orange, becoming yellow in the center but very tender throughout, almost coreless and of the finest quality. Half grown and cooked fresh from the garden they are certainly delicious. Packet, Se: 0z., 15¢; 4 Ib., 45¢: Ib., $1.10. DANVERS HALF LONG—A well-known variety of excellent quality for table use. The roots are of uniform size and shape. They measure 6 inches in length and reach a diameter of 114 to 2 inches near the crown where they are thickest. The flesh is a rich orange with a slightly lighter orange center. Of excellent quality for home use and market. Packet. Se; 07., 15; Y4 Ib., 35c: Ib., $1.00. The specimens reproduced above were allowed to get overripe before being photographed. The picture merely shows comparative size and shape at maturity. OXHEART or GEURANDE—An excellent variety that may be eaten while quite small or may be left to reach full size, when the reots measure 3 to 4 inches long. Free from any core or hard fiber. Always sweet and very tender. Packet, 5c: 0z., 15¢: 4 Ib. 35: Ib., $1.00. LARGE YELLOW BELGIAN STOCK CARROT—The flesh is light orange. The roots are produced entirely underground. CURLED CRESS or PEPPER GRASS Its leaves have pleasant: pungency and may be used freely as a condiment to be served with salads or for garnishing. It can be cut repeatedly.
