retired from his farm and resided with his son, Baylis*,
in New London, Ralls County, Missouri. Vincent and
Artemisia, and their sons Baylis and Jesse were buried
in the Spencersburg cemetery, Pike County, Missouri.
They had twelve children, all born in Virginia from
1811 to 1828. John H.; Catherine Anne (Kitty); Susan
Simpson; Jesse Hitt; James S.; Baylis Glascock; Elizabeth
Matilda; Burr P.; Harriet L.; Sarah S.; Mary Jane; and
George W. Rector (see later).
The Fifth Generation in America
The children of Vincent and Artemesia Rector.
1.John H. Rector, born March 22, 1811 in Virginia,
died before 1895.
2. Catherine Ann (Kitty) Rector, born April 16,
1812. Catherine married John H. Glascock on February
20, 1834 in Washington, D.C. John, born 1805-06 in
Fauquier County, Virginia was the son of Downing H.
and Susannah (Strother) Glascock. John Glascock went
to California for the gold rush in 1850, and both John
and Catherine are presumed to have died there — dates
and places unknown. Phyllis Steadman Miller and her
daughter Shery] Miller of Riverside, California are direct
descendents of Kitty Rector Glascock.(19) Sheryl has a
sister (Joyce) and a brother (John).
3. Susan Simpson Rector (a twin of Catherine Ann)
was born April 16, 1812. No information has been obtained regarding her.
4. Jesse Hitt Rector** born January 21, 1815 in
Fauquier County, Virginia, died August 10, 1901 in Elk
Lick Springs, Missouri.
5. James S. Rector, born October 4, 1817 in Virginia, died before 1895 and probably lived in IIlinois.
6. Baylis Glascock Rector, born April 21, 1818 in
