FOREWARD The data compiled in this chronology has been as carefully documented as possible, thus subject to the limitations of any genealogy, it may be assumed to be authentic. The treatise partially embraces several branches of the Rector family, lineally descended from the emigrant John Jacob Richter of 1714. To write the entire history of this patriarch’s descendants would far transcend the limits of this work. Rather, it has been the intent to present an over-all narration, with emphasis upon the Missouri branch of the family, especially those members who eventually migrated to the Nevada County area of Northern California. The manuscript has not been prepared for general publication, but fora limited circulation among the more immediate members of the family for their edification and hopefully, for their enjoyment. The three years involved in the preparation of this chronology, while more a “labor of duty” than a “labor of love’? have nevertheless been most gratifying and rewarding. It is to be hoped that it will be of some value and interest to our future generations of Rectors.
