who came to Nevada City in 1851 are the sixth generation in California. (24)
In 1964 in San Francisco John entered the wellknown investment banking firm of Kidder Peabody &
Company where he was soon promoted to Pacific Coast
sales manager, headquartered in San Francisco. At the
present time, he is in charge of their corporate bond
department and is assistant manager of the San Francisco
office.
On November 24, 1973 John married Jane McGrath
of New York City. They reside in Novato, California.
3. Margaret Anne Lindley, daughter of Charles
Rector Lindley and Lucille Mooser Lindley was born in
San Francisco on September 1, 1934. She attended the
public schools of Berkeley and after her parents moved
to Altadena, California Marg entered the University of
Southern California where she was graduated with an
AB degree in sociology in 1956.
At the home of her parents in Altadena on August
30, 1956 Margaret married John Jacob Balian of Pasadena
and there are three children: John Lindley Balian, born
June 23, 1957, Cory Anne Balian, born October 16,
1958 and Tracy Louise Balian, born October 10, 1960.
Marge later received her teacher’s credential and
taught for one year in the elementary schools of Pasadena.
John is a successful certified public accountant in
Los Angeles, specializing in tax law. Marge is currently
attending law school. They reside in Pasadena.
4. William Meritt Rector, son of E. William Rector
and Evelyn Gallion Rector was born in Auburn on July
11, 1945. Meritt attended the public schools of Sacramento and was graduated from California State University at
Sacramento in 1973 with a BA degree in anthropology.
