eS THE QUILI JUNE, 1916 Now a suffragette meeting in Ireland I found And it was Rita they all gathered around! We all thought by her voice she would make a big stake, And here she was doing that, surely as fate. A movey scenario next held my attention Wherein gentle Irma made a balloon ascension. Then I viewed a Texas plain Where huge steers dashed—and they WEREN'T tame, Up galloped Doris, and her lasso threw And down to ground the fiercest drew. A pretty nook next did I spy Serving as means to rest my eye, A tree—brook—flowers—one cloud above, And ‘she’ and Bill—just making love. A huge architect’s office now loomed into view Where Alice was ‘‘boss,’’ and was spilling ink, too! Now for a change a cute cottage new Where Mag taught domestic science—for two. Near there was another rose-grown little place Where, as I learned, resided Miss Grace; She was writing plays for the comedy stage! What changes DO come on with age! Across the sea on a palm-shaded isle I was sure I saw our Marjory’s smile, She sang as she strummed her ukelele While a blonde Hawaiian kept time gaily. A monastery John ruled, devoid of laughter He ne’er had a girl, nor ne’er would after. Next I saw upon Market street A huge candy store with every thing sweet ’T’was labeled ‘“‘Smith’”’ and t’was Zeta’s I knew, She was so fond of sweet things—nothing new. Adjoining this was a grand dancing school Where the steps were practised according to rule (?), It goes without saying that this place was Dave’s And Society everywhere over him raves.
