Class Histories The Class of 719 The sixth of September dawned so bright and fair. That we poor little Freshies who came thru the hall Did not mind in the least the welcoming stare Of curious seniors, juniors, sophomores all. The seniors, who at first at us smiled, Came and took us under their superior care; Our boys by their smiling were so far beguiled That after ablution the darkest was fair. With the snow came sports; for we did not mind the cold Which the dignified seniors could not withstand. All of us without exception were neatly rolled; Some for snow-balling were nearly ‘‘canned.’’ In Latin, you know, we labored, not guessed; In English also did we work with much zest; Our Algebra teacher did with us her best, And we in return her kindness did test. In Science, with Mr. Loree’s help, the class Found wonders well worthy to note; In History we did well; for each lad and lass Learned all the sections and ‘*Readings”’ by rote. Being modest children, we will not relate OUR work on the beautiful lawn you now see; We do everything in such a fine state That we are not excelled on land or on sea. —M. A. R., '19. The Class of 1916 Anno Domini, nineteen twelve, August, latter part, Came thirty little Freshmen, fear tugging at each heart, First of all the Freshie classes to adorn our new High School, Resolutions in their hearts, in their minds, the Golden Rule. 16.
