Inu Memoriam
They walked with us along the ways of life—
Almost it seems we hear their voices yet;
No uttered word, no record need we keep
To hold remembrance ‘‘lest we should forget’’;
But thus we waft them God-speed from the shore,
To those fair hills whereto their sails are set.
Wallace Shaw
When the shocking news that Death had claimed Wallace Shaw reached the
school it sent a pang of sorrow into the heart of every one of his former schoolmates.
Possessed of a pleasing personality and bright and sunny disposition, he was endeared to all who made his acquaintance. At the time of his death he was in the midst
of a successful college career. Taken away just in the beginning of a promising
manhood the loss is deeply felt.
Joseph Roberts
Once again during the year the cloud of sorrow hung over the High School.
This time Joseph Roberts, who had been janitor of the school ever since the erection
of the new building, was called to the Great Beyond. Ever of a generous and kindly
disposition, he numbered his friends by the legion. He was leader of the High
School Orchestra, and is greatly missed by that organization.
