CLASS OF ’51
The Class of 1951 came into the halls of Grass Valley High School in 1947, and after the first few
days of initiation, they were duly accepted and elected their first officers. These were Lawrence
Zugnoni as President, Anita Turner as Vice President and Shirlee Paige as Secretary. Second
semester officers were Lawrence Zugnoni as President, Margaret Davis as Vice President, and
Shirlee Paige as Secretary.
Their Sophomore year was headed by Warren Cresswell as President, Nancy Hicks as Vice President, Chuck Hollmer as Secretary, and Joyce Rooks as Business Manager. Their second semester
was led by Bob Trathen, President; Phyllis Penaluna, Vice President; Lonnette Winney, Secretary;
and Joyce Rooks as Business Manager. Their social event of the Sophomore year was the Sophomore dance, “Far Away Places.”
In their Junior year, the members of the Class of 1951 elected Lawrence Zugnoni as President;
Bob Trathen, Vice President; Norma Moscatelli, Secretary; and Joyce Rooks as Business Manager.
In the second semester Bob Trathen served as President, with Phyllis Penaluna, Vice President;
Norma Moscatelli, Secretary; and Joyce Rooks, Business Manager. Their Junior Prom was entitled
“Bale Hai.”
The first semester officers of their Senior year were Dale Rodgers, President; Norma Moscatelli,
Vice President; and Evelyne Fesmire, Secretary. Leading the class for their busy ‘second semester
were Lawrence Zugnoni, President; Jan Stevens, Vice President; and Lonnette Winney, Secretary.
And as this class leaves Grass Valley High School, they will carry with them into the world the
many things they have gained here.
