THE QVILL
An actress she’d been and by her beauty of old
Had won a multi-millionaire, Henry H. Gould.
Last, not least, Laura,
And it seemed strange to me
She had led and won the revolt
lor the girls in the factory.
She had told us how she was going to try,
*Way back in 1910,
When she told us the story that made us cry,
But we didn’t believe it then.
So this was the fate of my classmates
Of the dear class of ‘11.
They were on exhibition in this old place
When they should have been in heaven.
In meditation I looked at the floor
And saw a card near the door,
And on it written, ‘twas plain to see,
W. W. Sim, Jr., Prof. of Mineralogy.
He must have dropped it as he went out.
He was W. W. Sim, Jr., without a doubt.
I now saw why he looked so familiar at me—
He was the son of my teacher in Chemistry.
My classmates gave me a good old class yell
And said, “Won’t you come join us, Adele?”
Fust as Mr. Sim was returning and had his hand on the door
I said, “I will join you,” and fell dead on the floor.
When they found me they put me upon a shelf
3etween Rachael and Laura to stay.
I felt just like my old, old self,
Content with my classmates forever and a day,
29.
