THE QVILL
I turned in the aisle to Ruth
And started in to chide.
Outside I called her uncouth,
But I said, “Oh, you dear,” inside.
The scene was very touchy,
It was a terrible strife;
The candy had been taken by “Dutchie,”
And he hiked away for his life.
in to his class he took it;
He passed it to his mates.
They didn’t try to save it,
But started at four-twenty rates.
Then of all the spitting and thirst
And all the sprig and spirl,
The grades below thought a cloud had
And prepared for the coming whirl.
When the spitting was through
And they’d ended their chew,
Mr. Sturgis looked all around;
He looked here, he looked there,
He looked everywhere,
Until the culprit was found,
“The soapy taste will last,”
He said, “till the Ex’s have been passed.”
He said ’twould be clear
That the Ex’s we'd fear;
That they'd be no “cinch,”
That we'd all get our pinch.
Mr. Sturgis was angry, I guess.
Do you think he had reasons? No? Yes?
Well, I certainly hope that no more such dope
Will be brought to our N. C. H. S.
