This body was formed in February of the present vear and
now has a paying membership of about one hundred and eightyfive. The dues hive been set at the uniform rates of one dollar
per month for firms of the city, and for professional men. The
general membership fee is fifty cents per month. It is hoped that
there will be a steady increase in the membership and that before
the end of the present year we may count not fewer than two hundred and fiftv contributing to our support.
The object of the Chamber of Commerce is to promote
everything that will redound to the growth, uplift, publicity, and
general good and improvement of Nevada City.
Our firm belief is that Nevada City ‘presents more advantages as a residence and educational town than any other place in
the State of California, and that, the business opportunities along
the lines of mining, fruit raising and manufacturing are unsurpassed. In line with this we shall at all times do our utmost to
bring to the attention of the outside world the facts that we have
here a perfect and invigorating climate, plenty of rainfall, cheap
power, a complete ditch system of controlling and = distributing
the watershed. good schools, well managed and well attended
churches, efficient local government, modern lighting and gas system, municipal water works, complete sewerage, asphalt streets and
concrete sidewalks, and over all the above are the model homes
and public spirited, yet home loving, citizens.
Come in to the Headauarters, and see the displays, give
suggestions and help along the good work.
