ie wm THE QUILL Grass Valley Nevada City The first game between Grass Valley and Nevada City was played at Armory Hall, on February 19. The hall was packed with spectators and rooters, who witnessed the closest game of the season. The game started with a rush. Both Nevada City and Grass Valley fought with the old time spirit. The rivalry which is keen ran at a high pitch. We started sccring on a foul which was followed by a field basket. During this half Nevada shot some remarkable baskeis and kept Grass Valley from scoring a single field basket. The half ended with score 14-4. Mr. Curtis of G. V. refereed the second half. The second half proved yery exciting. When the whistle blew Grass Valley was leading 23-20. Sacramento vs. NC. H. S. On February 26, we met the Sacramento High School at the Armory Hall. Basket Ball spirit was at high pitch. The Armory was packed with enthusiastic spectators and loyal supporters of the High Schocl. Sacramento started by scoring first. Nevada followed and took the lead. Real basket ball was played by both teams during the first half. Some remarkab‘e baskets were shot by both teams. The passing and team work as a whole was perfect. The first half ended with a score of 13-12. Breaking training rules will get you sooner of later. Sadramento kept gaining slowly and when the final whistle blew they had the large end cf the seore.
