THE QUILL, 1928 21 CALENDAR AUGUST 22—First day of school. 23—School started in earnest, no waiting a week as in former years. 29—Methodist Epworth League entertained the faculty. SEPTEMBER 26—Freshmen-Sophomore Brawl. Freshmen Initiation in the evening. Fun for everyone, even the freshies. 5—Labor Day. No school today. Work was started on the tennis court. All the boys were present??? 6—Miss Kyle moved assembly hall furniture and cleaned house. 7—Who turned on the gas in the Chemistry room? 9—Admission Day. Another day’s work on the tennis court. Girls served luncheon at noon. ’Rah for the ladies! 14—Election of Student Body Officers. OCTOBER 3—Student Body had community singing which scared the rats away. Miss O'Neil thought we were wonderful singers? > ? 17—LInstitute commenced. Don’t study too hard, teachers. 25—Rats and cats ran at large in the study hall. 27—Thanks to all who gave donations for the tennis court. We appreciated them very much. NOVEMBER 10—Our principal blossomed out in a new suit and was received with wild applause by the assembly. 16—Mr. Pedersen scanned the ceiling to find out where the rocks came from during the second period. 24—Girls’ Association entertained the Student Body with a program. DECEMBER 6—The month of snow, but no one seemed to be able to see any. 22—Christmas Tree for the freshies. Girls’ Association entertained the Student Body with a clever little play. JANUARY 9—School closed for a week because of sickness. 18—Senior boys decided they needed some heat so they built a fire in the study hall. You can hardly blame them, because Henry thinks the school house is an ice barn. 20—Tobacco juice was found in the desk in mechanical drawing room and two boys were sent home for a week. No need of mentioning any names. 23—Second period staged a snowball fight in the assembly and drove ‘““Ped’’ wild. 24—-J. B. Lillard, president of Sacramento Junior College, gave a very interesting lecture to the Student Body.
