And what was your father's educetion?
My father's education was private. He went to private schools in New, York and Connecticut and New
Jersey. He was going to Columbia University but he
came to California instead.
Wheat were your mother's interests?
Mother was very much interested in socisl work. She
wes president of Buford Kindergarten Association, one
of the early private kindergartens, which of course
no longer exists. Most of her interests were of that
sort. She was quite social, with many friends. She
was 8 well-educated woman,
Could she help your father in his accounting work?
No. There was no meeting of the minds in his work,
Father hed his work and he was quite positive about
that.
Childhood in San Francisco
I grew up in San Frenciseo. I was born December 10,
1876 in San Frenecisco on Weshington Street between
Polk and Larkin and grew up there.
