Company organized to build turnpike from Forest Hill to GV. South of
Yankee Jim's to Pattison's Ranch, down Owl Creek to brow of hill, up N. Fork
of American River on hill side, crossing near mouth of Illinoistown Canyon,
thence up canyon to stage road from Auburn to Ilinoistown, crossing road
into ravine leading to Bear River at point known as Widow Maguire's in
Nevada Co., thence out thru gap in ridge to a junction of No. & So. Wolf
Creek, thence by nearest practical route to GV & Nevada. NT
Toll Gate at Sheet's Ranch near Rattlesnake Creek. Rates set by Supervisors.

Deeded to Nevada Co. by Benjamin Taylor & A.S. Peterson. Ds-55-491.
Some discrepancy in these records. The extinct Benjamin Taylor crossing is shown on USGS
topographical maps as located on the Bear River near the old Rising Sun mine site. The junction of "No.
and So. Wolf Creek is closer to the extinct "Combie" crossing of the Bear River.]

Snow Point & Minnesota — Johnson & Miller — Will be free after 6/1/1858.
GRANT & PARIS WAGON ROAD CO.
Commencing at Donner Lake & Dutch Flat Road at foot of Polley's Hill or
Grade, thence crossing S. Yuba near point known as Pierce's Grade about 2 '4
mi. in a northwesterly direction; thence following line of blazed trees,
intersecting N. Fork of Yuba R. about 2 mile below J.S. Warfield's house;
continuing on to town site of Paris, thence to Carlisle, thence to Mendoza.
