Grand Jury was completed on Tuesday. ‘ . Bitters, Brant, Wm. Hollis, J.M. Black, J. A. . Tus Polynesian, the official organ of the government of King Kamehameha, has the following notice of the celebration of Washington's Birthday. The 22d February, last Monday, was noticed in Honolulu by colors flying trom every public and private establish. ment that had a flag-staff to hoist them on, and from the shipping in the harbor. Guns were fired for every State in the North American confederacy at noon, andat5 P.M., by a pumber of American citizens. A character like that of Washington, stands out so clearly from the pages of . history, is so complete in its own great. ness, so resplendent in the light of its moral grandeur, as to become the universal property of civilized mankind, a . stead. star that knows no setting His servie. es belong to his native country, but his . fame and his glory are the inheritance of the world, like that of Cincinnatus and Sobieski, and will survive; when both the empire that he founded and the . empire.that he defied have gone to rest with those of Egypt, Assyria and Rome. It is well to keep his day; it is well . that we from time to time should look up to*this and other “bright particular . stars’ to take new bearings and correct . our Gourses; it is well to acknowledge . that such men are true prophets of the . This monster blast, fired by ?alvanie electricity at several poiuts instautaneously, at once heaved off from the cliffs a mass of more than a_ million tons of chalk, which rolled down upon . the beach—the dislodged stuff covering . a space of more than fifteen acres.” A Canapian Kinc.—The Sandwich (C. The} most eligiblé person to found a Canadian . dynasty, the Mercury thinks, isa Prince . ‘of England, for while his elevation to . the throne of the new kingdom ‘would . be a grateful tribute of loyalty to our . gracious Queen, it would remove the disadvantages under which we at present labor, and would bind us more firm. ly, as an entirely independent nation, to the first empire in the world.” Granp Jury.—The panel of the . San Francisco, Nov. 10th, 1856, Messns. Park & WuitE—Gents :—It is with pleasure I a sure you, that I am able to add my testimony in favor of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry. For overa year I have beenafilicted with a cough and pain in my side and breast, which originated with acold. I had taken Cherry Pectoral, Jaynes’ Expectorant, Cod Liver Oil, and many other popular patent medicines of the day—also spent over one hundred dollars with our phy sicians. But all proved of no beneficial effect. Read ing your almanac of 1855, I was induced to try you Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry. I was, at the time commenced using it, laboring with every symptom ol consumption of the lungs. I found, that after using one bottle, it gave me relief, and as I considered my case a hardone, I sent to your store and bought half a dozen bottles ; and snffice it tosay, before I had taken it all, I was well. I must say, that it appeared to reach the very place affected, in which all other medicines failed, I am now in full enjoyment of good health, believing, that had I not made use of your truly valuable Balsam of Wild Cherry, I should now have been past recovery, if not dead. . I shall always take pleasare in recommending to those who are afflicted with coughs, colds, difficult breathing, pain in the side. or any lung diseases, your Balsam of Wild Cherry, with the signature you adverise, “Sanford & Park, Cincinnati, Ohio,’? as I am informed there is an imitation put up with some other signature. Respectfully yours, DAVID ALLCUT. 26> Beware or Base Imitations! £§ As there are quite a number of Counterfeit articles bearing the name of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, purporting to be the ‘Genuine and Originsl,”’ we therefore deem it necessary for the public good to Caution all rsons who purchase the Balsam of Wild Cherry, to Pox well at the Signature before buying. The “Genn-} ine Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry,’ has a FAC SIMILE of the signature of Henry Wistar, M D, Philadelphia, and Sanford & Park, on atinely executed steel engraved wrapper. Therefore, be cantious. as none can be gennine without the signature of Sanford & Park. For sale by Druggists generally. “PARK & WHITE are the only Agents, to whom all orders should be addressed. EF CAUTION! 2 AM INFORMED that various liquor-mixers of New York, Boston, and San Francisco, are extensively en gaged in putting up in square bottles, under varions ti tles, cheap imitations of my long established and re nowned Wolfe’s Scheidam Aromatic Schnapps. Which adulterated compounds are intended to sell in California against my genuine article. My object is rat have reeently estab lished an AGEN! Y IN SAN FRANCISCO for supplying the State and Oregon with my Schnapps, and that here after I will always keep said ageney supplied with @ large stock ; so that respectable druggists and liquor dealers throughout California cin always supply them selves at a regular price, n erely enough over the New York price to cover cost of freight and charges; thus avoiding complaint as herctofere, of occasivnal scarcity and extreme high price It is now many years since I first imported these Schnapps from the celebrated distillery in *elcidam, Hol land. in which I am interested. It is now conceded that no Gin was ever imported into this country which has approached my Schnapps in regard to PURIT Y¥. HEAL PHFULNESS, and EXQUISITE AROMA or fla vor.
