and enthasiastic in their respective
Plank Road undertakings. With both
it is a matter of extraordinarily vital importance, and they both seem to meet
the emergeney with proper spirit. We
publish to-day a communication from an
intelligent citizen of Grass Valley, that
takes ground in favor of Sacramento —
We give it as we will all opinions in the
matter. We haye already sufficiently
expressed our Own opinion, and are willing to let the matter now be decided
by the exertions of our neighbor cities.
It would be invidious to seek to discourage either party, and we let the question rest as far as our pen is concerned,
lest our preferences to any given route
should tend to dishearten the friends of
any other. We believe, however, that
Nevada county will respond by most substantial tokens when the time arrives.
We commend to general attention the
report to-day published on our outside.
For its practical wisdom it deserves
careful digestion. It is no mere superficial glance at the matter, but the emanation of a mind evidently accustomed
to weigh carefully its conclusions. With
the views of the report in reference to
the Railroid, we concur for the present.
till these hills shall bo covered by a
heavier population, and their resources
more generally developed. But the ultimate wants of this region will demand
that greater dispitch and speed only to
be secured by a Railroad.
