Bloomfield, Columbia Hill, San Juan, French Corral, Rough and Ready, Quaker Hill, Lowell Hill, Omega, and You Bet. Nevada County in early days was the scene of active placer mining, all the rivers, creeks and ravines being the source of unlimited wealth, and the stories of rich finds at the present time at Klondyke are but a repetition of the early discoveries in Nevada County. After working the easy placers, attention was then directed to the deep gravel channels and extensive quartz mines, which have been continuously worked to the present time.
