Whig County Convention.
NOTICE is hereby given to the Whigs of
Nevada County that a Whig County Convention has been called to meet at Nevada
City on Satarday, June 2oth, for the purpose
of selecting delegates to represent the Whigs
of said county at the State Convention to be
held at Sacramento city, on the Gth day ‘of
July next, to nominate candidates for the
several offices to be filled at the next State
Election.
The Whigs of the several townships are
réquested to meet at such time and place as
may be convenient, and select delegates to
represent them at the county convention. For
the purpose of securing pré-npt action. Saturday, June 18th, is suggested as a suitable
‘time for the several township mieéciings.

the construction of the ‘‘South Yuba Mining and Sacramento Canal Company’s”
works, hercby invites proposals for building
a dam across the Yuba River. at the foot of
the canon on said river, at the point where
the survey commences.
The dam must be constructed of stone and
of sufficient strength to resist the pressure of .
the entire volume of waters of that river
when swollen to the highest mark, and agreeably to the design of the company’s Enginer, teen John Day of Grass Valley.
The work will be com-nenced on this section of the canal, on the Ist of October-next,
when the river is presumed to be at its lowest stage.
