Our correspondent applies to us in his . uistress, and implores us to tell him what he is to do, The ease of the hundred and twe ig a hard one indeed. The only consolation we can administer is, that when a railroad is built to Nevada from Folsom so that the ladies cau coine to the mountains without passing through a purga. tery of dust, the angelic creatures will flock to . the Standard of matrimony raised hy the poor . bachelors in Omega. Go in, then, for the railroad and may a squeeze be your reward. Low Dowy.—It is reported of a chap who went over to Washoe to make a fortune or lose a leg, that after having secured the requisite . amount of ground, he returned to a place nota thousand miles from here and interested men of . means to such an extent that they becamé pur. chasers of his claims, paying part down, and the . remainder to be fortheoming whenever it.was found that the ore taken from the ground should be demonstrated to assay as well as t from the Comstock lead. Accordingly an agent was! sent over to pick up a few specimens to determine the fate of the last installment, Agent found a lot of the ore, brought it over, had it assayed, The cash was gladly paid and the bafgain wasconiplete. No chance fora “ slip up” now being entertained, one of the purchasers . emilingly informed the vendor that the ore from . the lead paid just as well as that from the Comstock. ‘“ Well” said the sharper, “ it ought to, I got it from there.” We tell the story as we . got it.
