GRATITUDE Is THE COMPLETION OF THANKFUGLNES! The ingratitude of man to his fellow man is so often mot with in life that testimonials, prompted by the finer feel ings of the heart, are oasis in the life of those who sacri fice their best days in philanthtopie devotion to the a) leviation of the ills of frail mortality. Empiracism floods the columns of our press with fraudulent and fictitious letters, singing peans to the worth of their own ogotiss cal charlatanism. Below we append a letter from a wor thy man who, a brief period since, seemed destined te “shuffle off this mortal coil ;” who looked forward to h dissolution with that pleasure which only those weighed down by the heavy hand of disease ean. Contrary te hope, the ability of a skillful physician has restored him to his former health. Relieved from his tertible sitnation and impelled by gratitude, he makes ktiown Bis case and remedial agent, and his statement is authenticated by a Notary Public. The demands of society imperiously command its publicity, and it is given more to warn the unwary than to sound the praise of a physician of whom scores of like eases can be cited : CERTIFICATE.—The undersigned desirous of acquainting those who may be unfortunate enough to be similarly afflicted, where a permanent relief of their suffering may be obtained, feels it his duty to thus publicly ex press his most sincere gratitude to Dr. L. J. Czapkay for the permanent recovery of his health. Botne down by the distressing symptoms {incident to the vicious practice of uncontrollable*passion in youth ; depressed in body and mind, unable to perform even the most trifling duty imposed upon the daily avocations of life; I sought the advice of many physicians, who at first regarded my dieease as of a trifling importance—but alas! after a few weeks, and in several instances months, of their treat ment, I found to my unutterable horror that instead of relief, the symptoms became more alarming in their torture ; and being told by one that my disease being principally confined to the brain medicines would be of little consequence, I despaired of ever regaining my health, strength and énergy ; and as a last resort, and with but a faint hope, called upon Dr. L. J. Czapkay, who, after examining my case, prescribed some medicine whieh almost instantly relieved me of the dull pain and dizsimese in my head. Encouraged by this result, I resolved to place myself immediately under his care, and by a striet obedience to all his directions and advice,my head be came elear, my ideas collected. the constant pain in my back and greins, the weakness of my limbs, the nervous reaction of my whole body on the slightest alarm or ex: citement ; the misanthrophy and evil forbodings; the self-distrust and want of confidence in others; the incapability to study and want of resolution; the frightfnl exciting, and at times pledsurable dreams at night, followed by involuntary discharges, have all disappeared : and in fact in two months after having eonsulted the Dr. I felt as if Iwas inspired by a new life—that life whieh but a short time ago, I contemplated to end by my own hand, With a view to guar the unfortunate from falliug inte the snares of incompetent quacks I deem it my duty te offer this testimony to the merit and skill of Dr. Czapkay and recommend him to all who may stand in need of medical advice, being assured by my own experience, that once under his care a radical and permanent eure will be effected. B. ¥. FILLMORE. State of California, San Franeiseo cottnty Subseribed and sworn before me, this 17th day of April. A. D. 1856 (Signed) JOHN MIDDLETON, JL. 8.] Notary Public {>> Dr. L. J. Czapkay’s Medical and Surgical Insti tute is at the corner of Montgomery and Sacramento sts. San Francisco. The Dr. offers free consultation, and asks no remuneration unless he effects a cure. aug@2m {-3” A BRIGHT STREAK OF GRATITUDE.—The follow ing letter appeared some months since in the San Franeis co Citizen without the knowledge of Dr. Young. We copy itas a complimentary tribute toone of the most skillful physicians that ever made this state his residence. As it was entirely unsolicited, and made public without the knowledge of any one but the writer, it speaks volumes It should be cut out and pinned up for reference to any one who should unfortunately be similiarly, situated ; “To my afflicted Fellow Men.”—Being about to leave the State of california for my home in Michigan,I wish be fore leaving to recommiend to your notice that great bene factor Dr. J.C. Young. lwas on the very brink of the grave, when he stretched forth his hand and saved me from death. Yor several years I had been troubled with a complication of diseases brought on by bad habits, aggravated by exposure in the mines, which had so weakened mr ays tem and undermined my constitution that I have often contemplated suicide. Borne down by racking pains in my body, dizziness in my head, sore eyes, pains and misery in my back and hips, weariness in my legs, evil forebodings together with a confirmed melancholy, I considered my best friends my worst enemies, my dreams were frightfal, and at times strange phantasies took complete pos#ession of my mind. I was fast hurrying to insanitythat worat ofliving deaths. In this state a friend and partner in min: ing business approached ine on the subject and advised me to go to the Bay and see Dr Young,I did so, and thank God for it. Dr Young examined my case, and told me he could cure me, Shortly after I commenced taking his medicines my troubles began to decrease, and in three months I was perfectly well. Take my advice all you that are afflicted, and call upon him, for he will be sure to cure you for he has cured several of my acquaintances after they had become discouraged by being deceived by the humbugs of the day, both by American and foreign vagabonds. My heat leaps toward him with gratitude for his benefits to me avg8-3m Cuas. F, MANROUR. Fire! Fire!! Fire!!! Fire!!!! TALLMAN & TURNER, ON HAND AT Yates & Tallman's Old Stand, Commercial street.
