As a medical man it ts the duty of every physician to
look at diseases as it affects health and life, and his sole
object should be to mitigate, as far as lies in his power,
the bodily suffering. Human nature at best is but frail,
all are liable to misfortune.
Of all the ills that affect man none are more terrible
than those of a private nature. Dreadful as itis in the
person who contracts it, frightful as are its ravages npon

. pe the afflicted—Persons troubled with disease should
peruse the following Letters of Recommendations,
from Dr. J. C. Young’s patients. They are voluntary offerings of gratitude to him for benefits received, and are
proofs strong as Holy Writ of his scientific attainments.
No one can read them without at once having confidence
in him, and we contidentially make the assertion, that
people afflicted with private or other diseases, will call
upon him in preference to any other physician in the
country. Read them carefully, ye that need medical assistance, and then loose no time in consulting him whil<
there is time left to cure you.
MARYSVILLE, June 10th, 1855.
R. J. C. YOUNG, Dear Sir—Please send me some of
the medicines you prescribed in my case. I havea
friend here who is troubled in exactly the same w ay that
Iwas. He has nightly emissions, ringing noise in his
head, weak back, foe of memory, ‘andi is generally debilitated ; he is di couraged and has not contidence enough
to enable him to call and see you, I told him how I was,
and that my friends all said I was in consumption, and
the doctors up here gave me up, and advised me to go
home and die, but instead of going home, I called upon
you, and here I am as well as any of them and likely to
live a long time yet, with strength enough to work with
the strongest of them. Doctor, I will send ev: ery one to
you that looks to me as though he needed aphysician. It
shall not be my fault if any one dies for want of medical
treatment. I will do all I’can to keep the afflicted away
from these pests of society, yelept professors and high
sounding titled men who, if the facts were known, are
men who left their country for their country’s good.
Publish this letter, Doctor, if you wish, and I hope some
of those that humbugged me may see it, and sleep bad
for one night. Truly yours,
GEO. DAVIDSON.
Grass VALLEY, June 3d, 1855.
EAR SIR—The last medicine you sent me has done
the business. I am now perfectly well, and wish to
give my testimony to the public in favor of your skill I
was troubled with a complication of diseases brought on
by that soul-destroying habit of self-pollution, and complaints caught by connection with bad persons, of the opposite sex. I have been treated by some of the best physicians as well as those quacks who infest the State, and
by them all given up as ineurable ; but being advised by
a friend who had been benefitted by 3 your scientific treatment, to call upon you. I did so, and feel grateful to him
for the information, but still more thankful to you for the
care and good advice you gave me, as well as the efficacious medicines you prescribed. If any of the afilicted
should see this, let them be sure that it is a voluntary offering in gratitude for the blessings of health received
from you, and also given with a fervent wish that it may
be of service to those suffering asI did; and now may
God bless you in your effort to lessen the suffering of the
human family, and may all good citizens assist you to
drive from the ¢ ommunity those leeches that prey upon
the public by false pretensions of eminence in the medieal world. Yours eternally,
To Dr. J. C. Young. JOHN BURGEss.
PLACERVILLE, May 28th, 1855.
R. J. C. Youne—Dear Sir; Words cannot express
the gratitude I feel is due to you for the benefit I
have received? rom your truly inv ‘aluable course of treatment of my case while prescribing for me. I think I cannot justify myse iving ‘this small token of my
thankfulness and esteem, for you have been the means
of saving my life, and restoring to me that health which
Ihad so long despaired of again enjoying. I had for a
long time (four years) been troubled with that most dreadful scourge of young people, seminal weakness or noctural emissions which so weakened me both body and mind,
that I was obliged to give up mining altogether, I consulted one of the best physicians (so called,) in the mounain districts, and after a careful examination of my case
ne medicines. I continued under his treatment
for three months without receiving any benefit, in fact I
. grew worse from week to week, until at last I got discouraged and asked him for his opinion. I told him not
to fear to tell me the whole truth, for I should rather know
the worst at onee, than to live in suspense. I had lost
about thirty pounds of fiesh, and that he at least could
not cure me and as I was then going on, death must soon
count me as one of its victims. This physician then told
me that my case was incurable ; that I had better not
take any more medicines. He ‘said Iwas ina decline
which was fast tending to pulmonary consumption.
I then despaired of obtaining any relief, and saw that
unless something was done to mitigate the complaint that
I should be numbered withthe dead, or what is worse,
be a raving maniac. Happening to see one of your books
the Pocket Aiseulapis, I made up my mind at once to call
and consult you with jhe determination of trying once
more to get relief if you would undertake the case. Oh
how thankful I am for that determination. I commenced
taking the medicine preseribed by you, andI am now,
g ir healing powers, restored to perfect health.
shall not fail to recommend you to any of my friends that
sistance, for a man that can cure a case as bad
s, can cure every disease that flesh is heir to,
if there is life enough left in the system to build upon.
Receive my most sincere and hearfelt thauks and esteem. 8S. W. REIGHDEA.
San FRANCISCo, June 2d, 1855.
Dear Sir—I have not had one single fit since I
commenced taking your medicines ; Iam also gaining
strength every day. The trouble that I had, which was
the cause of the fits is also leavi ing me very fast. In fact,
I think I am entirely well, but if you th best, I will
take medi s a short time longer. It is only about two
months since I commenced taking your prescriptions, and
although you told me it would take from three to four
months, I feel perfectly well already. I feel sorry that
I did not visit you at first, and not allow myself to be led
aceay by the vain boasting of those quacks that copy your
sty le of business, and thereby impose upon the public.—
They despoiled me of my money, and if I had not stopped taking their vile stuff, they would have robbed me of
my life also. Thanks to your superior medical skill I am
beyond danger, and I shall always consider you the savieur of my life.
Dear Dr.—Publish this if you consider it worth your
while, for I wish to proclaim to the world your worth,
that every one who needs a physician may know where
to call, aud be sure of avoiding deceit and imposition.

Syphilis and Gonorrhea.—Dr. D. J. Czapkay’s extraordinary success in the treatment of Syphilitie and Gonorrheal diseases in the primary and other stages, induces
him to call public attention to the fact that of the great
numbers who have made daily application to him, there
is not one who has not been effectually and permanently
cured. In recent cases of Syphilis or Gonorrhea, the
Dr. guarantees a perfect cure in a few days without hindrance to business, or. other inconvenience. The Dr.’s
method of treatment of these maladies, combines the improvements made by the medical faculty, with discoveries of his own that are unknown to any one else, and
which, when applied, prevent the possibility of evil after
consoquences.
Secondary Syphilis, which is so destructive of health
producing ulcerations of the throat, destroying the soft
parts, and leaving the bones exposed, which mortify,
separate, and come away, disfiguring the sufferer most
horribly, as well as impairing his general health, and predisposing to consumption, the Dr. treats in the most certain and efficient manner. Also Buboes, painful swell-ings upon the bones, disfiguring splotches on the skin,
sores, pimples and all other consequences of Syphilitic
or Gonorrheeal diseases he guarantees to cure, or asks
no compensation.
The Dr. would especially cail the attention of those
who have failed to obtain relief from others, many of
whom he has already cured, and many are still under
treatment. The Dr. makes no charge for consultation,
and invites all to call at his Iastitute, and he will give
them such satisfaction they can obtain nowhere else.—
