The Common Council of the City of Nevada
do ordein as follows:
Sec. 1. The office of Commissioner of streets
and sewers shall bo and is hereby created and
oxtabliehed.
Sec. 2+ ‘The commissioner of streets and
sewers shall receive the sum of two hundred
and fifty dollars per annurn for his services, to
be paid quarterly, and shall hold hif office until the annual election in April, and until his
successor sha:! be elected and qualified.
Sec. 3. It shail be the duty of the conmiasioner of streets and sewers from time to time
to examin? the Streets and sewers Of the city,
and report te the Common Ceuncil ns often as
onee in every month, what particular repairs
and improvements may be necessary jn any

street and the probable expense of the same.

business, or pursuing any calling hereinafter

all auction sales of goods, wares,merchandise

generally in any of the public thoroughfares
of the city shall pay to the city the monthly
sum of five dollara, and all wagoners selling
from wayons in said thoroughfares, snch
goods, wares, and merch«ndise foreach &
every days exposure of said goods for sale
shall pay the sum of five dollars per day fur
each wagon. No portion of this section
however shall include such persons as pursue an exclusive trfficin vegetables. he
sale of spiritous liqnors at retail to be drank
ia said public thoroughfares is hereby prohibited,
Sze.7. All persons pursning any business
in which a ticense is requisite shall pay the
amount required to the city marshall who
shall give the person so paying a receipt and
apon presenting such receipt to the city
Clerk, he shall cause a license to be issued in
proper form signed by the city clerk and
countersigned by the mayor to each person
or persons authorizing him or them to prosce
cute the business for which each license was
granted for the period for which they have
paid, and no license shall be transfered to or
e granted for a less term than one month
other than to wagoners.
Sec. 8. The following shall be the penelties
for any breach of this ordinance. Any person pursuing the business of anctioneer and
selling without @ license shall for each and
every sale thus made be fined a sum of not
less than twenty five, nor more than fifty dollars, any person selling spirituous vinous or
malt liquors without license shall be fined for
each and every offence asum of not less
than ten and not more than twenty-five
dollars, any person exhibiting any publie
show withont a licence, foreach and every
offence, shall be fined not less than fifty, nor
more than one hundred dollars. The owner
or keeper of any house where any game of
chance or skill as énumerated in section fifth
of thisordinance, shall be pursued, without
first obtaining a license for the same, shall
foreach and every offence be fined not less
than fifty, nor more than one hundred dollars
—and all hawkers and pedlers, or wagoners
selling without a license shall for each and
every sale thus made be fined a sum of not
less than five nor more than ten dollars—said
fines to be recovered in the corporative name
of the city by dae process at law.
