A few moments more of this death-like suspense,

Bairish Liperauity.—We find in the Demoerat, of Puget Sound, a proclamation from Gov.
Douglass warning all persons from digging out
fhe gold said to have been discovered in a portien of the possessions of the Hudeon’s Bay
y. The Preamble recites “that information had been received by the Governme nt
that geld exisic upon and in the soil of certain
districts. aod that certain persons bave commenced searching and digging for the same,
for their own use,’ and predicating his action
upon these facts the Gevernor publicly notifies
and declares ‘that all persons who shall take

gives the following account of a serious accident:
Mr. Ryan who lives at a house on Montgom.

badly injured yesterday while repairing a well .
which isdug on his premises. He bad gone
down {nto the well and left a Chinaman at the .
windlass, After having completed his repairs,
he told the Chinaman to draw him ap. When
half way up the shaft, the curbing commenced

and with its weight was precipitated to the bottom. Mr. Ryan was badly stunned by the fall,

with a lithograph view of a mud volcano, on .
the Colorado Desert, which was sketched by .
himself while accompanying bis father on a tour
through that country, whither he went last
spring, in the employ of the Academy of Natural Sciences of San Francisco, and which the society have since had lithegraphed. It isa great .

Reuiciovs Dirrerences.—The Congregationlists of Massachusetts are quarreling about a .
small subject, but one of eternal importance to
the subject itself. It appears frem the Boston .

graduate of the Andover Theological Insti.

in North Woburn, Mass., bad accepted a eall to
settle over the Congregational society there, and
was about to be ordained, but the celesiastical .
couneil found, upon examining him, that Mr. .
Nickerson does not believe in the doctrine of .
infant damnation. The council! bad a long and .

to his society, among whose wants is not the ,

of good and evil. The question promises to .

a@ Dr. L. J. Czapkay.—We would direct the es.
pecial attention of invalids to a perusal of Dr. L. J. Czap.
kay's advertisement, ‘o be found in another column of this
paper, in order to place the services of a learned and experienced physician within their reach. So much ill has
been inflicted on the human family from the pernicious and
ignorant practices of empirics, that it seems as ifwe were
filling a bounden duty to make known where judic‘ous re}
lief can be obtained. To those unfortunate enough to suffer from the effects of sexual or private diseases, or their
ill-treatment, we cheerfully commend Dr. L. J. Czapkay a8 .
a man of rare scientific and medical acquirements, possessing all the requisites, from long experience and acknowledged skill, for the successful practice of his profession.— .
Having made sexual complaints an especial study, like the .
celebrated Ricord, of Paris, he is enabled to guarantee a .
speedy and permanent cure in all cases of private or chron.
fe disease, whether the effects of contagion, self-abuse, or
loss of virility, and in order that patients ata distance
may avail themselves of his advice, free consultation by
letter is open tothem. The knowledge that we have of
the numerous cures he has effected, some of which were of
long standing, leads us to p!ace much faith in Dr. C’s. efficacy, and commend him to the confidence of those in ill
health. Dr. Czapkay’s office is in Sacramento street, below Montgomery, nearly opposite the Pacific Mail Steamship Co's Office, San Francisco
