At No. 20 Broad Street, Nevada. A. SANFORD, } written statement of such, in preference to holding a personal interview, are respectfully assured that their Postmaster of Nevada, has received a letter . communications will be held most sacred. Dr. Young from Mrs. Deborah Smith, of Cape May, N.J., asking for information in relation to her son, William Edwards, whom she has not heard from for over a year, and does not know whether he is dead or alive. He formerly kept the Illinois Ferry, in this county, and any person knowing any thing of his present whereabouts, would confer a favor upon an anxious parent by writing to her, or informing the Postmaster here. Henngss Pass.—Mr. Bohanan, who came down from Eurcka yesterday, informs us that the Henness Pass is open so that pack trains can cross without difficulty, and there is now considerable travel on the route. Men are employed in repairing the road, as fast as the snow melts away, so as to have the road in good condition for wagons to cross by the time the snow is gone. Mr. Rafford is rebuilding his hotel, at Jackson’s ranch, which was destroyed by fire last fall. INCENDIARISM.—The house recently erected near Buckeye Hill, forthe care of small pox patients, was destroyed by fire about nine o’clock yesterday evening. It was undoubtedly the work of an incendiary; but what object any one could have in destroying the building is more than we can imagine. The building had just been finished with a view to the comfort of patients, but had not been occupied. THEATER.—Mrs. Leighton closed her engagement at the Nevada Theater yesterday evening, and during each of the three nights’ performances the house was filled. The company have left for North San Juan, where they give one or more entertainments, and they are announced to play in Nevada again, on Monday evening next. OpposITIoN MARKET.—By a notice in another column, it will be observed that Charlie Grove has purchased the interest of J. W. Johnson in the Opposition Market, on Broad street, and hereafter will conduct the business . on his own account. Fresh meats, etc., of the best quality, can always be procured at his place, and at the lowest rates. Firemgen’s Meretinc.—The Pennsylvania Fire Co. held their regular monthly meeting yesterday evening, at which time, it was an-) nounced, they would elect officers for the ensuing year. But other business occupied their timeto so late an hour, that they adjourned the election until next Thursday. evening—a week from to-night. . Gas ExrEeNsion.—The Nevada Gas Com-. pany have extended their pipes down Pine street, from the corner of Broad to Spring . street; and a number of buildings along the line of the pipe are soon to be lighted with gas—the Baptist Church among others. Carico Panty.—The calico party, under the auspices of the Ladies’ Episcopal Society, comes off this evening at Temperance Hall. If any of our readers have not had an opportunity of purchasing a ticket, they can get one at the door. ARREST OF AN INCENDIARY.—Gov. Nye,of Nevada Territory, has caused the arrest of a man who has been charged with arson in the . burning of $15,000 worth of hay, the property . of the widow of Mr. David Carlisle, who was . recently killed by a deserter from Fort Churehill. On the night of May 6th,’at Camp Wright, . near Los Angeles, a box containg $8,000 in . cash and $4,000 in certified accounts, belongthe sutlers, Pool & Voorhees, was stolen from . oneof the transportation wagons. No clue to . the missing treasure could be obtained. } F takes this opportunity of observing that all letters . are only opened and replied to by himself, and the latter as promptly as possible. If the case be fully and candidly described, personal communications will be superceded, as instructions for diet, regimen, . and the general treatment of the case itself, (including the remedies,) will be forwarded without delay, and in such a manner as to convey no idea of the purport of the letter or parcel so transmitted, ag Office, 751 Clay street, San Francisco, Consultation gratis, J.
