Determimep To Diz.—A young lady came into Dr. Wickes’ drug store yesterday afternoon, and reqnested the Doctor to give her a dose of “cold pisin’’—something that would take her “out of the worldeasy.”’ She told a long story about how her brother-in-law abused her, and expressed a determination to live no longer. The Doctor declined to furnish her with the necessary drug, and tried to impress upon her he found the poison bad done its work. Four panthers, measuring not less than eight feet from tip to tip, were discovered dead within a few rods of where the sheep had been left. Lavp Sates.—The Humboldt 7imes says, the sale of public lands in that District commenced at the office in Humboldt, on the 14th ult, and ended on the 17th. Gexenovs.—The Division of the Sons of Temperance, at Michigan Bluffs, raised a contribution of sixty dollars, one evening last week, which was presented to the widow of the late Capt. Halsey, who was accidentally killed at . that place, about two weeks ago, while at work in his mining claim.
